Chemistry Molecules

Chemistry MoleculesThe simplest example of a chemical formula is the simple formula for a molecule. If you have ever seen the reaction that takes place between two forms of an element in an analytical laboratory, you have seen that the elements do not simply have an atomic number and position in the periodic table - they also have a molecular formula. A chemical formula is a term used to describe the molecular weight of an element or any of its compounds, and usually indicates what chemical reaction the substance will undergo when mixed with another substance. One example of a chemical formula is the formula for carbon monoxide. It is a compound, which means that it is made up of four carbon atoms joined together by hydrogen bonds. It is usually stored as a liquid, because it is a very flammable and volatile gas.Compounds are any mixture of two elements that have some properties in common. Chemists generally use terms such as 'combinations'derivatives' to describe the properties of di fferent combinations of one element with another. The definition of 'chemistry' is a broad one, but this is a good example of a chemical formula because it has been used in conjunction with the word 'molecule' to describe the chemical reaction between two compounds.Molecules are the building blocks of all life. The cells of animals contain molecules of proteins, DNA, and RNA, all parts of the cell. Each of these components is made up of multiple atoms and molecules, and the same holds true for plants, algae, and fungi. There are two ways that a chemical molecule can react when it is put into contact with another chemical molecule. A reaction called covalent bonding occurs when a molecule and another form of molecules join, while the atomic bonding between two adjacent atoms causes a chemical reaction.Chemical bonds are formed at some distance from the bonds that hold other molecules together. This phenomenon is known as intermolecular bonding, and when two atoms that are bonded toget her in chemical bonds form into a solid, like a molecule, they become known as a crystal. When two molecules that are linked together are separated, they separate into molecules. The reactions involved in the formation of crystals, such as water breaking down to create steam, take place in a separate process, so a chemical formula is necessary to describe how these processes work. Many chemicals can be classified by their chemistry, because the atoms that make up the molecules are defined in terms of the chemical properties of their constituent atoms. There are five categories of chemical compounds, and a chemical formula is needed to classify the compounds.

Word Choice Errors

Word Choice Errors Below is a list of word choice errors the Virtual Writing Tutor can detect and correct. The list is not exhaustive. Instead, it will give you a sense of the kinds of errors that I consider a word choice error and I have been working to correct. Transfer errors Word choice errors are often due to interference from the writers first language and are sometimes called false-cognate errors  or translation errors. Other times the errors seem developmental in nature, coming from a lack of knowledge of the different vocabulary choices available in English or collocations required by a particular context. Sometimes, phrases just sound awkward in English because they are words we would never put together.     Translation errors Another source of word choice errors can be bilingual dictionaries or automatic translation websites. For example, a  root waterway treatment is not a synonym for a root canal treatment.   Homophones I have not included typos as a word choice errors if they can be considered contextual spelling errors instead, for example, I was the winner or one million dollar.   However, I consider the wrong choice of homophones (for example,   there/their) is a type of word choice error. Here is another example: Words pored from his mouth, but the  students were up until midnight, pouring over their books. Often-confused words and eggcorns Similar sounding words that are often confused are another source of word choice errors.  Adverse/averse, effect/affect are common examples.     Eggcorns are another problem.   Doggy-dog and duck tape are common examples. 70 Word Choice Errors Copy and paste this list into the grammar checker to see the corrections. Tutorfair Resource Sharing Day!

Tutorfair Resource Sharing Day! Tutorfair holds a Tutor resource sharing day! To help tutors share ideas and be the best that they can be for their students we held at resource sharing event at Tutorfair headquarters on Friday 13th of January. As a tutor you develop your own unique teaching style and amass a collection of great resources to help your students with the more challenging topics. The difficulty can sometimes occur when, as a tutor, you want to learn new techniques or ask questions about areas that you are less familiar with. At Tutorfair we are aiming to solve this by bringing great tutors together where they can share learning materials, get hints and tips, as well as support from fellow tutors. On the day we had some great learning resources to share. Around 15 tutors, specialising in a range of subjects, gathered to impart their knowledge and expertise. Adam S, a maths tutor and qualified teacher, shared a great game he uses with this students to help explain probability. Have a go at playing it yourself here! Another great tutor Raphael O gave us a great way of using less paper. Replace paper with a whiteboard and pen and make teaching more interactive and save money on paper at the same time! With range of tutors from maths, science and language backgrounds there were some interesting opportunities to learn. It might surprise you how tutoring tips can be shared even across different subject areas. Virtual Reality Revolutionizes Online Tutoring

Virtual Reality Revolutionizes Online Tutoring Virtual reality will make online tutoring as common place as one-on-one tutor over the next years this is the prediction of tutoring expert and founder of TutorZ Dirk Wagner. Today, many parents and students hold the belief that online tutoring has significant limitations. A tutor can notice the every so slight change in her students learning mood to slow down or speed up the pace of instruction among many other things. A computer-only interface does not yet allow for such a rich multi-sensory exchange of information. But what if multimedia-interface such as the Google or Vuzix become widely available and affordable? What if screen sharing apps such as Skype or teamviewer run on these goggles? It will break down the barriers digital barriers between learner and its teacher and revolutionize tutoring as we know it. The Trends Research Institute predicted in its Top Trends for 2014: “In higher education circles, the long-held belief that digital learning has significant limitations will fade.” Our “digital learning’s golden era” trend anticipated that once the stigma melted among university elites, the flood gates would open. In our opinion, virtual reality tutoring will be the best of both world: students have access to world-class tutors around the globe while having the experience of this tutor sitting next to him in the study room. Add to that in an area of unmanageable college debt and a stagnating economy online degrees are ow accepted as legitimate, and more affordable as its brick-and-mortar counterparts. So rejoice, tutors and students, the golden age of tutoring is about to come!

italki The Online Homeschool Foreign Language Program Im Telling Everyone About!

italki â€" The Online Homeschool Foreign Language Program I’m Telling Everyone About! This post originally appeared on Raising Arrows a personal blog site run by Amy Roberts. Reposted with her permission. My oldest daughter, Meg, loves languages. She is taking formal Spanish via a computer program plus teaching herself bits and pieces of several other languages. She’s a quick study; however, she has told me on multiple occasions that she really needs someone to speak the languages with her because the computer lacks the interaction and feedback of a live person. So, when I learned about italki.com, an online foreign language instruction site that provides teacher/student interaction via Skype sessions, I was hopeful this might be the answer to her dilemma. Answer would be an understatement. Within a couple of lessons, it was obvious to us that italki was EXACTLY what Meg needed. I’m sure by now, you are a little curious about what this program entails. And if you are anything like me, you might even be a little skeptical of anything involving strangers online. Let me give you a run down of how we use italki. How to get started with italki.com First, we set up an account. I used my email address and Meg’s name. That way, every email that came from italki.com came to me. I chose to leave Meg’s profile blank for safety purposes. You will need to have a Skype account and input the account name so the teacher can connect with your student. {Skype is free. Just download and go!} Next, Ty and I sat down and looked through French teachers. Lamar from italki had suggested a few professional teachers to us, so we started there. {By the way, Lamar is super helpful! A company with prompt and courteous customer service always gets my attention.} You’ll see on the italki Homeschool page suggestions for teachers in several different languages. Our teacher, Melissa, is on there! We chose her because of her credentials. We absolutely made the right choice! Once you have a profile set up and you have chosen a teacher in the language you are wanting your child to learn, you need to purchase either by the lesson or a packageof lessons. We did a package because it is cheaper. How much does italki cost? Each teacher has a different rate, so what you are looking for is the ITC/hour. Because the teachers on italki are from all over the world, there has to be a standard unit to go by. These are called language credits or italki credits (ITC). For Melissa, we pay 197 ITC or $19.75 per hour lesson, but with the package (see the red rectangles on the left that say PACKAGE), we are getting 10 lessons for the price of 9. Once you have purchased ITC, you schedule a lesson. Each teacher has a list of times and days that work for them. They are listed in your time zone, so no need to worry about trying to figure out the time difference. You will receive a notification from italki shortly before your session is to start. Meg gets herself up the morning of French and gets the computer ready. She keeps a pen and paper handy as well. She also has a headset with microphone if needed. Now, I get to brag! After 6 lessons, we were so impressed by what we were seeing and hearing, we decided to record a short video of Meg speaking French. Take a moment to watch the video! {Can’t see the video? CLICK HERE to watch on YouTube.} That girl makes me smile! Now, after 15 lessons, she speaks amazingly well! She told me recently she has even begun to dream in French! Who would benefit from italki? Let me give you my personal opinion on who would benefit most from italki. A student who shows an aptitude for languages. A student who wants to go on to study a foreign language in college. A student who wants the experience of speaking a foreign language with another person. Foreign language instruction is an area of our daughter’s homeschooling we are willing to spend extra money on. I have no doubt her aptitude for languages is God-given. We want to give her every opportunity we can to hone that skill. Italki is exactly what we needed to do this. So, now you can see why I am telling everyone about italki! This really has been an answer to prayer. Head on over to italki and check it out for yourself. Costa Mesa Tutor The ACT Writing Test Comparing Old and New

Costa Mesa Tutor The ACT Writing Test Comparing Old and New Tips from a Costa Mesa ACT Tutor: Preparing for the ACT Writing Test Tips from a Costa Mesa ACT Tutor: Preparing for the ACT Writing Test The ACT has made a change to the writing portion of the test. This can be confusing for students who are trying to compare the old test with the new one or who may be taking the exam multiple times. Its important for students to understand fully what they will be expected to do on test day so that they are prepared and confident. The changes to the ACT are not as significant as those applied to the SAT, but they are worth knowing about its never too late or too early to book your private Costa Mesa ACT tutor from TutorNerds. 1. Scoring guidelines This is where it gets a little confusing. The current essay is graded on a scale of 1 to 36, while in the past it was graded on a scale of 1 to 12. The current exam is scored based on four subdomains. These domains, as stated on ACT’s website, evaluate the students ability to do several things: “Analyze and evaluate multiple perspectives on a complex issue, State and develop your own perspective on the issue, Explain and support your ideas with logical reasoning and detailed examples, Clearly and logically organize your ideas in an essay, Effectively communicate your ideas in standard written English”. On the current test, two expert graders will give the student a score of 1 to 6. So, each domain will have a minimum score of 2 and a maximum score of 12. The final composite score can be a maximum of 36. Its critical to note that the scores arent simply added up to a final score. On the old ACT, the essay was scored by two graders, who each gave a score of 1 to 6 adding up to a composite score of 2 to 12 (READ: ACT Aspire: What is it?). 2. The prompt A portion of the current sample prompt, directly from the ACT website, reads: “Write a unified, coherent essay in which you evaluate multiple perspectives on the increasing presence of intelligent machines.” Students need to have developed strong analytical and persuasive writing skills. Most students would agree that this type of prompt is more complicated than the prompts from the old ACT, which included asking writers to take a position on topics such as school uniforms or whether or not technology should be censored in the classroom. A major change is the addition of three sample perspectives, which students will have to analyze. In the past, students just read the prompt and responded to their writing. The essay will also require extensive reading comprehension and advanced analytical skills. 3. Time allotted The present ACT essay will need to be completed within 40 minutes. This includes trying to read and comprehend the prompt, develop a position, make an outline, write, and edit. This is 10 minutes longer than the old ACT essay which allowed students 30 minutes to prepare and write. Students shouldn’t be fooled into thinking that they have an extra 10 minutes to bide their time. Rather, they will be responding to a more complicated prompt and will need this additional time to analyze and create an outline (READ: ACT Tips from a Private Irvine Tutor). 4. How to prep Students are encouraged to sit down with their Costa Mesa ACT tutor or study group and create a plan of action for their writing portion test prep. Because the ACT essay is now graded on four separate domains: “ideas and analysis, development and support, organization, and language use and conventions” (taken straight from the ACT website) students are encouraged to prepare to utilize all of these skills. Students should first focus on their ability to read, understand, and respond to the three sample perspectives. They should also work on their compare and contrast skills. They will then need to write and edit a clear and cohesive essay with good flow and varied vocabulary. 5. Is the writing portion still optional? Yes, the ACT writing portion is still optional. Students who sign up to take the exam can still choose to skip it but only if all the colleges and universities they are applying to do not require the writing portion. Just because the ACT has made this part optional doesn’t mean that it’s optional according to any particular college admissions department. Students are encouraged to check with the colleges they are applying to and determine whether or not they will take the writing portion. Be Proactive and Reactive Colleges Need to Actually Enforce Their Housing Policies

Be Proactive and Reactive Colleges Need to Actually Enforce Their Housing Policies https://flic.kr/p/gGyojR On average, college students pay an increasing rate of $9,804 every year to live in dormitories in addition to their tuition costs. One way that universities try to help students become more familiar with their campuses is to assign them a Resident Advisor (RA). Usually every floor in a dormitory has an assigned RA to handle roommate disputes, inform students of fun events happening in their building, and to ensure that they have at least one person they can call in an event of confusion or immediate danger. There is also a Hall Director appointed to every dormitory to handle serious situations and maintain peace and order in their building. With such an extensive amount of authorities on campus, there is no justifiable reason why 81% of reported campus rapes happen in university-owned dormitories. All universities have some form of housing policies for their residents to abide by that include regulation of guests. Usually students have family and friends sleep in their dorms at some point time during the academic year to catch up on life or for a good old-fashioned sleepover with friends. But it seems that despite university guest policies, Hall Directors and Resident Advisors are not implementing them. Due to limited single rooms or by choice, many students spend their first year of college with one or more roommates. Some roommates become close friends, others don’t. Every person has a different level of comfort around people in their personal space (including their roommate’s guests). A common residential policy is that to have overnight guests, all roommates must give their consent in all aspects or there can be no guests at all. But as a college student myself, I have seen how young adults have their own agenda and sometimes ditch the rules when they see fit, despite making others uncomfortable. More often than not, RAs and Hall Directors do not check these residents and other students are left feeling uncomfortable. I can’t help but believe that this loose policy enforcement plays a part in the abundant amounts of rapes, reported and unreported, on college campuses. It is not enough to promote rules with posters. You have to enforce them with actions by keeping better track of who is coming in and out of dormitories and following university laws. Hall Directors and Resident Advisors can’t stop every sexual assault. But I do believe they can be doing much more. I don’t believe students need to be treated as children, but when people are being assaulted so frequently on common ground, the community needs to sacrifice some freedoms for the greater good. From the frequent unprosecuted rapists, it is pretty obvious that many University Administrators do not take rape cases as seriously as they should. Patting rapists on the back with a consequence is not enough to create a safe space. It is time that colleges are proactive and reactive. Writing policies that are intended to prevent campus rape means nothing when your staff does nothing to enforce them. It’s time that College Administrators, Hall Directors, and Resident Advisors do the work that they are paid to do so that their students can pursue an education in a safe environment, as they rightfully deserve. If you have dealt with sexual assault, on or off of a college campus, and are seeking help, please click here.

What Is A Good Kd Chemistry Course?

What Is A Good Kd Chemistry Course? The advantages that one can get out of learning chemistry are many. However, some of the basic aspects that these sciences offer may not be clearly understood by most people. What is that chemists are actually interested in?The basic thing that one can look for in a good kd chemistry course is that one should master the concepts. This is a very important aspect and may be of great importance to those who are starting with the new science. A student who is not confident of their knowledge on this subject may find it hard to understand. To ensure that the learning process is successful one must be able to grasp the concepts. This is a must since the subject will focus on a lot of technical details. Knowing the concepts and making sense of them are what make a scientist. It is necessary to understand what is going on under the hood of a substance in order to get the chemical reactions that will be used in producing the desired results.A good kd chemistr y program would teach students how to properly conduct the experiments to find out the chemistry that is actually being done in the process. These are the only ways to test the validity of the experiments and the chemicals involved. A student who has studied chemistry properly is one who knows what they are doing before hand and can perform the experiments right.Having a good kd chemistry class that teaches the students the basics will also help them better understand what they need to do in their career. It will help them better understand the nature of the sciences. This way they will be prepared to tackle challenges that may come their way.In order to get a good kd chemistry program one must work on building up their laboratory. It would help to find a nice lab that is built around a certain material. Usually, it is the place where the chemicals are produced as well as the things used in the process. It is only here that one can have all the chemical substances handy and be able to use them to obtain the desired results. One can find an opportunity to learn the basic aspects of chemistry from all the sources available. The internet is a good source for the subjects that one needs to study to be able to go into a career as a scientist. Doing so will give a student a good foundation and a way to make use of all the information that they have.

Find Library Free Tutoring For College Students

Find Library Free Tutoring For College StudentsIf you have children at school, the chances are that you're probably looking for a way to find library free tutoring. Since so many of the new programs and free courses offered by colleges are aimed at helping students get into grad school, college students may be forced to move on to a job without spending the time needed to finish a degree program. The cost of tuition and books can run into the thousands of dollars per year. If you're the parent of a high school student who has found a college degree program that doesn't seem as competitive as you expected, then you may find it difficult to pay for their tuition. There is a lot of free tutoring available, and you might want to consider getting some of the online materials to make sure you're getting the best out of your money. Many of the online learning materials are offered by companies that provide library free tutoring. Often the teachers are local and can offer you help in making t he program work. The online course will require your time and will be difficult for anyone who is used to studying on their own to follow. The web-based school could also mean that you'll need a computer and internet access, which will cost money if you don't already have it. There is some planning involved with getting access to some of the online resources, but you'll probably end up finding something that is more helpful than the traditional high school program. When you've decided to start an online education program, you'll need to decide if you want to use textbooks or use the learning materials offered through library free tutoring. It's usually best to stick with the online program since they are designed for people who are not as familiar with the subject matter, but there is a lot of information out there that you'll need to know before you get started.Online learning programs have many advantages over traditional textbooks, but some people worry about how well they'll learn . The only way to find out is to try them out and see how you perform. You may find that you are able to pick up the concepts just as easily through online tutoring as you do through your traditional high school education.Sometimes it's easier to try out an online program as opposed to trying to find the right time to take it, since you'll be able to continue working while the online course is going on. In fact, many times a library free tutoring can be one of the best ways to stretch your time so that you don't have to delay the completion of a degree program.Your local library may be able to refer you to an online tutor, who can guide you through each step in the right direction. Often, you'll be able to take the online course when you're on vacation or have other obligations. You may even be able to learn through library free tutoring during the summer, since many of the courses are designed to fit into that window.
